With a strong importance on
“Community” at Maroochydore State School, our sports days are fun and always
full of spirit.
Maroochydore State School is very
actively involved in school sport. With several carnivals and events occurring
throughout the year, there is always a sport for everyone to participate
in.
Athletics
Training begins early in the year. As all
students across the school participate in our annual Athletics
Carnival towards the end of term two. The carnival is
usually run over two days with the focus of these events are participation
rather than competition.
Cross Country
Our annual Cross Country is a fun run event and takes place on the larger oval at the beginning of term 2. All students participate in the event and run 1km, 2km or 3kms (depending on age).
Swimming
Swimming instruction is provided to students from Prep to Year 5 in term 4 of each year.
Surf Awareness Skills Program
During term 4, all students in year 6 participate in an accredited Surf Life-Saving Program in partnership with Mooloolaba Beach SLSC and Queensland Surf Lifesaving.
The program includes:
Surf Education
Still water skills evaluation
Surf survival and resuce skills
Surf awareness
Rip identification

Basic rescue in moderate surf conditions.
